Curb Age Falsification In Delta Civil Service -- Uzum Enjoins DTSG ~ Truth Reporters

Eugene Azuka Uzum has advised Delta State Government (DTSG) to intensify efforts at curbing age falsification in the state civil service for a vibrant workforce in the state.

Uzum, a lawyer, politician, social commentator and policy analyst, stated this against the lingering occurrences of age falsification of some civil servants in the state civil service.

Responding to newsmen at the Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat Complex in Asaba, the state capital, Uzum reiterated the need to continue to clear the  hierarchical ascension of civil servants by ensuring that those at the topmost rung of the service did not clog up the rise of their subordinates through age falsification.

He maintained that biometric exercises should be regularly carried out in the service to fish out civil servants who could had falsified their ages to elongate their stay in the service, wondering why the malaise persisted in the service even after several past rigorous biometric exercises in the service.

Uzum said that the malaise had made employment of fresh intakes into the service almost impossible because of a possible over bloating of the workforce, adding that the civil service is currently the most viable avenue to absorb the teeming unemployed youths in the state.

Responding to the question on why some civil servants falsified their ages to stay longer in service, Uzum blamed it on poor pensions management in the service, saying that it was harrowing for one to retire from service without immediate payment of retirement benefits and subsequent monthly pensions to civil servants.
