Projects execution: DTSG to spend N275bn ~ Truth Reporters

In what unarguably is the highest single exco approval since the 34 years creation of Delta State , a whopping #275 bn, is to be spent by the State government in executing projects cutting across different sectors in the three Senatorial districts of the state.

The approved projects are coming with a 40% upfront mobilization without recourse to any external or internal borrowing , giving vent to solvency status of the state government

Briefing newsmen at the press centre of Government house , Asaba on the outcome of the Thursday 13th February first exco meeting for the year 2025 which was presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Commissioner for Works ( Rural and Riverine Roads) and Public information, Mr Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, disclosed that the projects span different sectors and we're targeted at giving Deltans value by improving connectivity road wise , advancing their health by way of efforts in the health sector , alongside urban renewal initiatives intended to make the state,s cities more liveable .

Flanked by his counterparts in Works ( Highways and Urban Roads), Mr Reuben lzeze, Economic Planning, Mr Sunny Ekedayen, Health, Dr Joseph Onojaeme, DG DSCTDA, Mr Patrick Ukah, his WUEDA counterpart, Prince Godwin Ejinyere, and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, Aniagwu stressed that Governor Oborevwori is determined to ensure that Deltans get value for every money spent on projects in the state.

Among the over 70 projects approved by exco, the Commissioner disclosed , are the construction of Uruagbesa Oria-Abraka Road phase 1, Egodo-Ogbeinbene Road, and the construction of Faculty B at the Southern Delta University , Orerokpe Campus.

Others, according to him , are the rehabilitation of Bomadi- Gbaregolor road, upward review of Ayakoromo bridge project, the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of Okpanam road from Post Office junction to Catholic Church Roundabout to Okpanam Bypass.

In the health sector , the Commissioner, Dr Joseph Onojaeme , said exco approved #1.6bn for the Contributory Health Scheme and a monthly release of #100m to ensure sustainability of the health coverage for Deltans.

Onojaeme also disclosed that Exco approved the establishment of a Specialist Hospital at Osubi , in Okpe Local government area, with Public Laboratory and Psychiatric clinic , total rehabilitation of General hospital , Ekpan in Uvwie, as well as the completion of Library building at Delta State University Teaching Hospital Oghara , Ethiope West , to ensure an increase in admission I take for the University.

The Commissioner for Works ( Highways and Urban Roads), Mr Reuben lzeze , told journalists that Governor Oborevwori had cleared outstanding certificates owed contractors , including #8bn previously owed on the Trans-Warri Ode ltsekiri Roads and bridges , as well as putting the project on the lrrevocable Standing Payment Order ( ISPO) module.

Some other exco approvals include the presentation of staff of office to Obi Chukwunonso Justin Nwoko as the Obi of ldumuje Ugboko kingdom in Aniocha North, appointment of Obi  Azubuike Kenegede, as the Ogene of lbedeni in Ndokwa East, that of Augustine Nzemeke Ezeaguna 111, Obi of Egbudu-Aka kingdom in Aniocha South.
