Performance, Accountability, My Watch Words, Says Ehiwarior ~ Truth Reporters

 

The Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has said that his administration would always be guided by the twin concepts of performance and accountability.

Engr. Ehiwarior stated this while being honoured with the Nigerian Distinguished Media 2025, as 'Councik Chairman of the Year,' and Ika South as the 'Most Outstanding Local Government Council of the Year' by the management of an Asaba- based media organization, AI Publications, during the week.

The Chairman, who  said he was elated by the recognition and honour, said he was particularly happy because the people were appreciating the work being done by the local government under his watch.

He noted that the local government, being the closest to the people at the grassroot, should be at the fore front in driving development, and, therefore, advocated for a sharing formular that could boost allocation to the third tier of government in the country.

He appreciated Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for being supportive of the Local Governments  in Delta State, and emphasised that such support had helped in no small measure in the smooth running of the various local governments in the state. 

He  assured that he would continue to utilize the resources available to Ika South Local Government for the development of the area.

He noted that, as a youth, he understood the enormity of the responsibility reposed on him, and the high expectations of the people, and explained that he would always be mindful of his decisions so as not to disappoint the people of Ika South.

He expressed gratitude to the publisher and management team of AI Media, for finding him worthy of the award, which, he said, would act as an elixir for him to do more for Ika South, in line with the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government.

Earlier, while presenting the award to the Chairman, Mr. Tony Okwunebe, publisher of Nigeria Radar/Digest magazines, said the gesture was the organization's modest way of appreciating, "a resourceful young man who has changed the narrative of local government administration through excellent infrastructure development since assumption of office.

"Okwunebe added, "There is no arguing the fact that the Ika South Local Government Chairman, Jerry Ehiwarior, has won the hearts of many people, including those outside the LGA, who have been following his excellent leadership track records/activities. 

"It will be unfair of us not to acknowledge all that he has been able to do in such a short time as Council chairman. 

"Constructing a road is not a mean feat. It requires courage and a leader with high financial 

descipline and focus to embark on such capital intensive project, and complete it in less than four months.

"Within the same period, he executed other projects such as the Alihame Modern Market and Grocery Stores. We are equally aware of some ongoing projects initiated by his administration which would soon be completed. 

"A young man who was able to do all these should be applauded by all well- meaning people.That is why we are here today to do the needful, by honouring with an award that he clearly deserves."
