Olona Unity Cup 2024 kicks off at Donald Ochei Stadium ~ Truth Reporters

 

The 2024 version of the Olona Unity Cup has kicked off at the Donald Ochei Stadium, Ogbekenu New layout, Onicha Olona, Aniocha North Local Government Area, with Ogbekenu quarters losing by a lone goal to Umuolo, at the impressive opening ceremony which drew a mammoth crowd of spectators.

The Olona Unity Cup 2024 tournament, is sponsored by a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly and immediate past Executive Director , Sabotage and Legal Services of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency ( NIMASA) , Rt Hon Engr Victor Onyekschi Ochei , under the aegis of the Victor Ochei Foundation , in conjunction with the Onicha Olona Football Association ( OFA).

Six quarters of Onicha Olona, Ogbekenu, Agba, Umuolo, Ogbe Obi, Ishiekpe, and Idumuje Olona, are vying for the coveted winners trophy and mouth watering cash gifts to be splashed on the winners on the closing match final day on 31st December 2024 , which will also coincide with the inauguration of the multi million naira Donald Ochei ultra modern stadia complete with state of the art facilities like synthetic pitch and flood lights , among others.

According to the tournament,s Local Organizing Committee ( LOC) Chairman who also doubles as the Onicha Olona Football Association Chairman, Prince Emeka Omesiete, the Olona Unity Cup is intended to discover talented football players from the six quarters of Onicha Olona  , to nurture and groom them to stardom.

Omesiete was full of glowing tributes to the sole sponsor of the Olona Unity Cup tournament , Rt Hon Engr Victor Ochei, who he described as a pillar of sports in the community.

He added that the construction of the ultra modern Donald Ochei Stadia , venue of the tournament , was another incredible evidence of the sports loving nature of the former Speaker and PDP Governorship aspirant.

Highpoint of the opening   ceremony of the Olona Unity Cup 2024 tournament , was the formal kick off , by the President General , Onicha Olona Development Union ( OODU), Sir Patrick Ejidoh.
