Delta LG Commissioner Lauds Ehiwarior For Devt Efforts ~ Truth Reporters

Delta State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Prince Kelly Kalanama Penawou, has described as impressive, the ongoing development efforts of  Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior - led administration in Ika South Local Government.

Hon. Penawou gave the commendation after inspecting and assessing the projects currently being executed by Ika South Local Government.

The commissioner, who was conducted round the projects sites by the   Chairman, accompanied by other management staff of the Local Government, said he was pleasantly surprised at the number of projects being carried out by the Chairman, all of which, he observed, were almost at the inauguration stage.

According to him, "I am really impressed and encouraged by the outstanding performance of Ika South Local Government Chairman, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior. The young man has shown enough capacity by what he has been able to achieve as  Chairman, within a short space of time., especially the construction of Abude Street. We must not forget he has only been in this position for less than five months.

"The projects are clearly people-oriented that will surely impact positively on the daily lives of the people of Ika South. All of the projects, from my assessment, were well thought out. They were deliberately and diligently conceived. And I must say that Engr  Ehiwarior has a clear vision of what he intended to do for his people. That was why he immediately hit the ground running after being elected as Chairman of Ika South"

Hon. Penawou noted that it "takes strong will, an altruistic disposition and financial discipline" for a local government chairman to embark on road construction, which, he pointed out, was capital- intensive.

"Also the construction of Alihame Modern Market and the Ediken bridge across Orogodo River as well as renovation of Alifekede market, which had a borehole and toilets facilities constructed, including the Ediken Fruits Stand, are all laudable endeavours that should be applauded by all. They all fall within the MORE Agenda and Meaningful Development segment of the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori administration's agenda at the state level.

"Indeed, with what I saw today in Ika South, I am returning to Asaba with the satisfaction that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is doing very well in the state. And I call on Deltans to continue to lend their support and prayer to the government to succeed."

At the occasion, Ika South Local Government Chairman, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, expressed appreciation to the people, saying that their unrelenting support had been a huge source of encouragement that will spur him to do more.

He added that, "If we are able to maintain this pace, we will surely be able to consolidate on the gains so far made, as we progress."
