Help Develop Ika South, PDP LG Chairman Urged Political Office Holders ~ Truth Reporters
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ika South Local Government Area, Sir Amechi Igumbor, has called on those appointed or elected on the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) platform to use their offices to bring development to the local government area.
Sir Igumbor made the call at Agbor after a tour of project sites at Abude Street, Alihame Modern Market and the bridge across Orogodo River, being executed by Ika South Local Government.
He said he was impressed with the quality and speed of work, adding that the three projects were critical to the daily activities of residents of the local government area, and in tandem with the campaign promises made to the people by the party.
"Today, I decided to see for myself the ongoing projects being carried out by our Council Chairman, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior. I must say without equivocation that the young man is doing well.
"It was barely a month after he resumed office that we heard that contract for Abude Street, which was almost impassable, had been awarded to be contructed. Being here today has availed me the opportunity to have a first hand assessment of what residents have been saying about the new phase in our locality.
"I was also at the new market at Alihame, and the Orogodo River bridge. I am overwhelmed with joy for what the Council chairman has done in a short period. It clearly shows he knows what he needed to do to improve on infrastructure in Ika South. As a party, we are proud of his performance in the few months he has been in office.
"I want to use this opportunity to call on other public office holders on the platform of our great party, PDP, to redouble their efforts in attracting development to Ika South Local Government Area. Holding public office is at the instance of the people. Nobody should see and regard it as a personal conquest to use only for themselves and their families. Use your office to better the lot of the people," he stressed.
While affirming the desire of the PDP-led administration in the state to continue to add value to the lives of citizens, Sir Igumbor called for more collaborative efforts between the people and the government.
He emphasised the need for the people to remain supportive of the policies and programmes of the Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior-led administration to make Ika South a reference point in development initiatives.
He thanked PDP faithful in the local government area for their steadfastness and dedication, and advised them not to be swayed in their resolve to strengthen the party the more for effective service delivery to the people.
