3rd Convocation ceremony: ADUN graduates 100, produces 7 first class graduands ~ Truth Reporters

The Admiralty University of Nigeria ( ADUN), has , at it's third convocation ceremony , graduated 100 students , with seven of the number , bagging first class degrees in various disciplines


The convocation ceremony held on Friday, November 24th , 2024, at the university,s Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba Multi purpose hall


In his speech , the Visitor to the University , President Bola Ahmed Tinubu , while congratulating the graduands on their academic feat of completing their studies successfully, disclosed that his administration,s high premium on education , prompted the  establishment of the National Education Fund ( NEFUND),where over #70 billion has been earmarked to cater for the students loans scheme for tertiary education students nationwide





The President , who was represented by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Professor Rim_Rukeh Akpofure, appealed to beneficiaries of the students loan scheme , to be honest and committed to repaying the loans , to enable NELFUND continue to be sustainable


President Tinubu while commending the management of ADUN for the giant strides recorded within a short time of its existence , charged the graduating students to be agents of positive change while being good ambassadors of the Alumnus, and also avoid the temptation of thinking that they cannot excel without seeking greener pastures abroad


In his goodwill message , Governor Sheriff Oborevwori , assured the ADUN community of the continued collaboration of the state government


Governor Oborevwori, represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Nyenrovwo Tonukari, commended the University for it's unwavering commitment to excellence in teaching and administration


While congratulating the graduands, Oborevwori recognized ADUN,s crucial role in human capital development in the state and the country as a whole


Earlier in his welcome address, ADUN,s Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Dili Ofuokwu, announced the anticipated launch of post graduate courses from the 2025/2026 academic session, a feast that will further solidify the institution,s position as a centre of academic excellence


The ADUN acting VC while extending the institution,s invitation to stakeholders to join in the task of developing the university , particularly commended Governor Oborevwori for the ongoing construction of a 48 room students hostel complex which is at advanced stage of completion


The Convocation guest lecturer , a one time Director General of the Nigeria Energy Commission , Professor emeritus Abubakar Sani Sambo , OON, who spoke on the Energy challenges in the country, advocated for the regionalization of the national grid, in view of the disruption in electricity supply that affected 17 states of the federation recently


The Convocation guest speaker lamented that climate change is being largely orchestrated by the activities of oil and gas exploration , suggesting instead , policy framework and implementation by government towards the area of renewable solar energy


The highpoint of the third convocation ceremony , was the presentation of the 100 graduating students by the institution,s Dean of Students, presentation of departmental and faculty , Pro and Vice Chancellor,s awards to best graduating students in the various departments and faculties , as well as the acceptance speech on behalf of the graduands by the best graduating student with a CGPA of 4.80, Miss Onwuliri Somtochukwu Onumdinachi, who expressed  gratitude to the management and staff for the enabling environment and quality teaching and learning they received


Other goodwill messages were delivered by the Chancellor and Chief of Naval Staff ( represented), the Chief of Defence Staff ( represented), and the Pro Chancellor/ Chairman of Governing Council , Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba ( rtd)
