By Andy Emephia

The Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration has zero tolerance for cutting corners in the delivery of durable and quality road infrastructure for Deltans

This affirmation , formed part of the plank of achievements of the Ministry of Works ( Highways and Urban Roads), as articulated by the Commissioner in charge , Comrade Reuben Rume lzeze, during the 12th edition of the Journalists hangout tagged "from parley to party" at the NUJ Delta Press centre in Asaba

Izeze also reiterated the Oborevwori administration,s commitment to construct legacy projects that will stand the test of time , even after 20 years .

According to the Highways and Urban Roads Commissioner , most of the over one year he has assumed office has been spent on on the spot appraisal of road construction works with a view to ensuring that Deltans get the best in terms of qualify and durability of the roads constructed to ease their movement

Said lzeze: " " We have spent most of last year doing supervisory work, and as a matter of policy l must visit every road project to see things for myself , before l sign certificates"

The Commissioner said he is driven by the philosophy of the "Ogbemudia roads" , which still stand the test of time despite the initiator , late Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia , former Military Governor of Bendel State and later Governor of Edo State, had passed on long ago

He added that since legacy roads start from the point of design, he won't encourage any contractor to use Google maps to design roads in Delta, but they must show him the site and drains and where it's discharging to

The Commissioner added that the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation ( BEME), will never be circumvented under his watch as Commissioner for Highways and Urban Roads

Izeze listed projects both inherited and ongoing such as the Trans Warri Ode ltsekiri roads with bridges, the Beneku and Orere bridges , the Ohoror Bomadi road , Emevor Orogun Road , Okpanam lbusa bye pass as well as the #78bn Julius Berger mega flyover and cloverleaf projects in the Warri axis as ample evidence that the Oborevwori administration is poised to deliver the dividends of democracy through enduring road infrastructure in line with it's MORE agenda

Earlier , the Chairman of the Delta State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Churchill Oyowe had commended the Urban and Highways Commissioner , for his proactiveness in embarking on road project inspection in order to ascertain first hand, the pace of work , and use of qualify materials in line with the Bill of Quantities ( BOQ) of the projects
