Independence Day: Ehiwarior Seeks Greater Unity Among Nigerians ~ Truth Reporters

As the nation marks her 64th Independence anniversary, the Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engineer Jerry Ehiwarior, has called on the citizens, especially the people of Ika South Local Government Areas, to continue to uphold the ideals of brotherhood and unity.

He said though Nigeria might  be facing serious economic and security challenges, he was optimistic that with collective efforts and commitment by all, the country would ultimately effectively overcome its development challenges.

The Chairman's message    which was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Jonathan Onwuka, noted that in the current scenario, the citizens, more than anything else, needed to be more  united  to be able to overcome the numerous challenges currently confronting the country.

"As we celebrate yet another independence anniversary, I want to call on my fellow citizens, particularly the people of Ika South, to be their brothers' keepers during this challenging period in our journey as a people.

"I am appealing that we all remain steadfast in praying and collectively working together to build a better and prosperous nation that present and future generations will be proud of. 

"We must not allow present circumstances to deter us from believing in our dear country. Everyone of us must contribute his/her quota to see that we build the country of our dream where citizens are secured and flourishing," he stated.

Engineer Ehiwarior observed that Nigeria, with its huge population and abundant  natural resources had the potential to be a great nation, and expressed optimism that with everyone committed to making sacrifices, the country would come out of the woods to take its rightful place in the comity of nations.

He called on those occupying high offices  in different sectors, especially public office holders, to use their privileged positions to better the lives of the people, even as he observed that Nigerians remained hard working and resilient people, who given the right environment, always succeeded in any endeavour.

Ehiwarior recalled the sacrifices and labour of past heroes, who, he noted, struggled, and in some cases, gave their lives for the unity and progress of the country.

While wishing citizens a joyous celebration, the chairman prayed that God would continue to bless Nigeria, guide the leaders at all levels and give them the wisdom to lead the people right and into prosperity.
