Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has zero tolerance for shoddy jobs under his watch , and won't condone cutting corners in the delivery of durable infrastructure to Deltans.

Speaking with members of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists at the Press Centre, Asaba, the Director General of the State Orientation Bureau and Communications , Barr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, was emphatic that any contractor who fails to meet the specifications as outlined in the Bill of Quantities ( BOQ) , under the MORE agenda , will have the Governor to contend with.

Recalling the trending visit of Governor Oborevwori to the ongoing 9.1 km Ewulu_Isheagu road project site in Aniocha South local government area , wherein he berated the contractor for not meeting BOQ specifications in the construction of drains along the corridor, the Orientation and Communication Director General said there is no more hiding place for such contractors.

Latimore also recalled that even in the ongoing #78 billion Julius Berger flyover and clover leaf mega projects around the commercial city of Warri and environs axis, Governor Oborevwori has always questioned aspects of the project that he needed clarification from the contractors on.

With Governor Oborevwori,s zero tolerance for shoddy jobs in the State, the Orientation and Communication DG  was emphatic that just as no defect will be entertained in any of the multi projects across the three Senatorial zones if the State, so also should communities where such projects are domiciled, oversee them with eagle eyes and blow the lid once they observe any defects in line with the projects Bill of Quantities.

He equally raised alarm over lop sided reportage by some section of online media in the State , with respect to the #40 billion loan guarantee by the state government , for local government council to offset their obligations to retirees under them.

Consequently , the Orientation and Communication Director General, appealed to Journalists to always cross check their facts and avoid hasty publications , as the state information managers headed by the Commissioner for information, are always available to produce clarifications on any contentious issue, when necessary.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), Comrade Churchill Oyowe , congratulated Latimore on his elevation as DG Orientation and Communication , by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

While pledging the union,s support to publicize activities of government in line with the ethics of journalism, Comrade Oyowe tasked Journalists to be circumspect and always balance their stories before going to press.
