NYG, Asaba 2024: We've lived up to our billing, affirms LOC Chairman, Ogba ~ Truth Reporters

The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the 8th edition of the National Youth Games, tagged Asaba 2024 , Chief Solomon Ogba ,  has affirmed that Delta State has lived up to it's billing in hosting the event.

Briefing sports Journalists at the media centre of the Stephen Keshi International Stadium , Asaba , the organizational hub of the youth games, the LOC Chairman, a past President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria , (AFN) , and current Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee ( NOC), said that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ensured that all modalities for the successful hosting if the games, had been approved for his Committee.

Chief Ogba, also a former Commissioner for Sports in the State , lauded  the 35 States apart from Rivers and the Federal Capital Territory , for their participation in the games, which he described as an avenue to catch the budding athletes young , and nurture them for greater representation of their fatherland at international events.

The NYG LOC Chairman, disclosed that the impetus on Youth games is also part of an overall policy of government's at all levels , to engage youths in mental and physical enterprises that will build not only their psyche, but also their future.

He commended athletes  and officials for their professional conduct thus far in the course of the games , and stressed the fact that the national youth games is a veritable tool for unification and peace.

Ogba said where there are hitches in the commencement of events, it was strictly not a LOC affair, as, according to him, the entire events are controlled by the various sports federations.

Ogba, who said the youths of today are veritable assets in the country , hinted that no stone would be left unturned , to ensure a hitch free Asaba 2024 

The media parley was attended by the Director General, Delta State Sports Commission and Secretary of the LOC, Mr Festus Ohwojero, the National President, Sports Writers Association, Isaiah Benjamin, (SWAN), the Delta State SWAN Chairman, Christian Eze, as well as the Media and publicity Chairman for the games, Mr Harrison Ocholor, among other members of his Committee.
