Ehiwarior Lays foundation of Alihame Ultra-Modern Mkt in Ika South ~ Truth Reporters
The Executive Chairman of Ika South Local Government of Delta State, Hon.(Engr) Jerry Ehiwarior, has laid the foundation for the building of Alihame Ultra Modern Daily Market. The foundation laying ceremony took place, Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Alihame, Agbor.
The event attracted stakeholders and other dignitaries from the area.
Later in an interview with newsmen shortly after performing the foundation laying ceremony, Hon Ehiwarior said that the essence of the project was to meet the demand of the people of the area who have been craving for a modern daily market due to population increase in the area .
He noted that the project had become very necessary to build a daily market in a community that is hosting the University of Delta ( UNIDEL), Agbor, which has a huge number of students .
" My administration is set to build people- oriented projects that will benefit our people.
" This is a modern market that has an abattoir, over 86 open shops and 10 lock up shops ", Ehiwarior added.
He added, "We are currently handling projects like the 1 kilometer, 15 meters span Abude Street project with both sides drains, building of a fruits stand in Edike Street Junction to give the Edike Market an urban look, renovation of Alifekede Daily Market with toilet facilities and a borehole, a bridge project that links Edike Market and Okoh Street, among many other projects.
" We are looking up to the commissioning of these projects towards the celebration of our 100 days in office " he declared.
The Ika South LG Boss expressed gratitude to the leaders and members of Alihame Community for the donation of land in the heart of the community that is accessible and suitable for the market project.
He disclosed that his administration was open for constructive criticisms "because, in the long run, those critics will also be building blocks for advanced development".
He, therefore, called on the people of Ika South to continue to support his administration as he was poised to take the local government to an enviable height of development.
Engr Ehiwarior advised residents to help monitor all ongoing projects in the local government so as to ensure standard and quality work delivery.
Meanwhile, the contractor handling the market project and Managing Director, Ndubest Construction Company, Engr. Nduka Jerry, promised to deliver the project with standard materials in line with the terms of agreement.
