Minimum wage for Delta workers: SSG, Finance Commissioner, lead talks to Ofobruku led NLC ~ Truth Reporters

In what appears to be a sight of relief after President Bola Tinubu,s signing into law of the #70,000 minimum wage law for public servants, Delta State Executive Council chaired by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has directed the Secretary to the State Government , Dr Kingsley Emu , and Finance Commissioner, Sir Fidelis Tilije, to liaise with the leadership of the state wing of the Nigeria Labour Congress, with a view to arriving at a consequential review soonest

Speaking with journalists on the heels of the wednesday 14th August,2024  State executive council meeting of the state, Commissioner for information, lfeanyi Michael Osuoza, said Governor Oborevwori feels the pains of the current economic  hardship being experienced by Deltans and has harped on the need to cushion the effect of the removal of petroleum subsidy on the masses

Osuoza , flanked by his colleagues from works, Urban and  Rural Roads, Health as well as the Chief Press Secretary , Reuben lzeze, Charles Aniagwu, Joseph Onojaeme and Festus Ahon , respectively, said as a law, Delta would implement  the minimum wage

Osuoza disclosed that within a week, the outcome of the discussions between the State government representatives and organized labour in the state , would be made public

He however clarified that the talks would mainly revolve around the consequential adjustments for all category of public servants in Delta

The Delta information Commissioner also disclosed that #3.55bn was approved as counterpart funding for the State Universal Basic Education Board ( SUBEB), while the over 30km Ohoror Bomadi reconstruction project , spanning five local governments namely Patani , Bomadi, Ughelli South and North , as well as Burutu, was also approved

Also lending his voice , the Health Commissioner, Dr Joseph Onojaeme , disclosed that the exco also approved health infrastructure such as high grade scan equipment that are second to none

Onojaeme said the Computerized Topography ( CT) scan equipment were for the Central hospital , Warri, and Delta State University Teaching Hospital ( DELSUTH) Oghara , noting that the first grade equipment are beneficial to Deltans, for tracking ailments

The Health Commissioner also hinted that exco had also aproved the rehabilitation of 150 Primary health centres across the state, emphasizing that in the not too distant future, Delrans would begin to see a massive health care boost
