We need collaboration to support the Oborevwori's MORE AGENDA - Odogu ~ Truth Reporters

The Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Community Development, Hon. Emakpor Odogu has promised to collaborate with the Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku in order to support the MORE AGENDA of the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori.

Odogu made the pledge during a courtesy visit of the Community Development appointees to the management of Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku.

Disclosing that the team was in Ogwashi-Uku to inspect some schools that are on renovation by some illustrious sons of Ogwashi-Uku Community Association in the United State of America, he identified the schools as Adigbo Mixed Secondary School, Nshiagu College, St Roses Girls Grammar School and Comprehensive Secondary School, all in Ogwashi-Uku.

According to him the ongoing renovation projects were in response to the  advocacy visit embarked upon by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Development, Chief Anthony Ofoni JP and his team of Community Development appointees, at which they called on corporate organizations and individuals to partner Governor Oborovweri's led administration through corporate social responsibility initiatives and philanthropic gestures for the heightened development of the state.

 

Speaking at the occasion, the Rector of Delta Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku, Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu, who was represented by the Registrar, Dr. Jude Okocha, informed the delegation that the Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku is one of the fastest growing Polytechnics in Nigeria and has just been granted an opportunity to host the Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA), scheduled for November, 2024.

He said the school is in need of several facilities like a stadium, lawn tennis courts and others, within the Polytechnic environment to host the game, as well as government intervention for the construction of internal roads.

He also added that the school is desirous of the completion of a long abandoned building, which when completed will accommodate about 4,000  students, with staff rooms.

He informed that the Polytechnic is in need of more staff and lecturers because MBTE has accredited all the courses in the school.

Appreciating the Association of Ogwashi-Uku indigenes in the United States for their gesture in renovating some of the schools in the area, he  appealed for the extension of the same gestures to the Polytechnic.

Among the team led by Hon. Emakpor Odogu were Engr. Emmanuel C. Mormah, Chief Barr. Roseline Uwubiti, Esikabulu Isreal Onochie, Hon. Akpeti Lawrence Ebikefe, Comr. Roy C. Umunna, Senior Special Assistants to the Governor, Odogucha Dafe Elliott, Special Assistant to the Governor and  Adelike Festus of the Admin Department.
