Lokpobiri Meets Al Gore, Seeks Global Partnership On Climate Change ~ Truth Reporters








President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri has met with the former Vice President of the United States of America, Albert Arnold Gore to discuss mutual areas of cooperation on climate change as it affects the Niger Delta region.

The IYC leader and Al Gore met on the sideline of the just concluded climate reality leadership training held at Accra International Conference Centre, Ghana.

Lokpobiri led members of the ninth national executive council of IYC Worldwide and other critical Nigerian youth leaders and stakeholders from across Nigeria to participate in the event which took place between November 13 to 15 organised by the Chief Executive Officer Climate Reality Project and Former President of USA, Al Gore.

Key panelist’s at the event included Mr. Muhammed Adow, Prof. Chukwumereji Okereke among other renowned global green energy advocates.

On the sideline of the three days event, the IYC President, Sir Lokpobiri, led the youth delegates from Nigeria, to engage Al Gore on possible areas of collaboration as part of efforts to mitigate the disastrous environmental degradation in Nigeria and particularly the Niger Delta region.

He dwelt on areas of collaboration to include climate change and need to intensify the advocacy for a cleaner energy transition in Nigeria.

Lokpobiri thanked the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Dr. Samuel Ogbuku for his immense support to the Nigerian delegation to actively participate in the important global event.

Responding, the chairman of the climate leadership project, Al Gore was highly enthralled by the demonstrable passion and visible commitment he witnessed by the cluster of Nigerian delegation led by Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri and assured the group of his continued support and possible flag off of a climate change program in Nigeria.
