Bill to establish Agricultural, Energy Technical Institute, Aboh passes first reading ~ Truth Reporters

A bill seeking to establish Agricultural and Energy Technical Institute, Aboh, Delta State, Wednesday, passed first reading in the House of Representatives.

The Bill, marked HB 955, to amend the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Act, CAP A12 laws of the federation of Nigeria, 2004, was sponsored by Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi (PDP-Delta), representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.

The Bill seeks to make provision for the establishment of the Agricultural and Energy Technical Institute, Aboh, Delta State and for related matters.

Hon Ezechi also moved a motion on the urgent need to address escalating kidnappings and killing of kidnap victims in the Federal Capital Territory.

This followed the alleged abduction and murder of his constituent and Senior Legislative Aide in the National Assembly, Barr. Chris Agidi.

In the motion, the Federal Lawmaker called on the Inspector General of Police to collaborate with the House Committees on FCT, National Security and Intelligence, and Police Affairs, to conduct a thorough investigation into the  incident.

He said the objective was to formulate effective strategies for addressing the security issues fuelling the alarming cases of kidnapping in the FCT, with a view to drastically minimizing them.

Emphasizing the urgency, Hon. Ezechi stressed the need for comprehensive measures to tackle the root causes of the security challenges and ensure the safety of residents of the FCT and other parts of the country, adding that the  security agencies needed to bolster their efforts to stem the rising wave of kidnapping.
