The apex social-cultural umbrella body of the Isoko people, the Isoko Development Union, IDU, today, held its 2022 annual general conference at the IDU secretariat, Oleh roundabout.
The conference which was presided over by the President General of IDU, Prof. Chris Akpotu, was well attended by all the organs of IDU, consisting of the traditional rulers, the council of patrons, clan PGs, branches, women's wing, and the youth wing.
Addressing the conference, Pastor Ukodhiko thanked IDU and the traditional rulers for their steadfastness and commitment towards the development of the Isoko Nation, and for strengthening the bond of unity in Isoko.
"Today is not the day for long speeches, as we are not here to campaign, but I want to reiterate that we are in the electioneering period again, and while other Federal Constituencies are sending their best for this election, Isoko can not afford to send a lesser candidate that will not be able to match his contemporaries at the National Assembly.
"It is on that premise, I am presenting myself to the IDU, as a worthy candidate for the position of House of Representatives, Isoko Federal Constituency, because from the pool of candidates, I am better in terms of capacity and capability, and I am more qualified in all ramifications to represent the Isoko people.
"I am going to the House of Representatives to represent Isoko, to stand for Isoko, and to fight for the interest of the Isoko people," he said.
The high point of the event was the call by The IDU president for the adoption of the candidacy of Pastor Engr. Ukodhiko Jonathan Ajirioghene for House of Representatives, Isoko Federal Constituency by the IDU conference delegation, which consists of the traditional rulers of Isoko, clan president generals, IDU branches, women's wing, and the youth wing.
The call was unanimously accepted and was accompanied by royal blessings from the traditional rulers, led by the Odiologbo of Oleh.
