Delta Poly Ogwashi-Uku bags ethical responsibility award ~ Truth Reporters

In recognition of high ethical responsibility, second to none among higher institutions of the South-South region of the country, an international anti-corruption mNon-Governmental Organization (NGO) the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation, (CFESVO), has presented a Merit Award to the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State

Equally, the Institution’s Rector, Bldr, Professor Emmanuel Achuenu, was decorated with the insignia of the anti-corruption NGO whose core mandate is to expose corruption where necessary, and also appreciate and encourage those who maintain due process and are ethically sound, in the private and public sectors.

Presenting the NGO's Award and decorating the Rector with the body’s insignia, CFESVO,s Executive Director and Leader of the delegation, Sir (Prince) Salih Musa Yakubu, commended Professor Achuenu for his humility and visionary leadership of the institution, which, under his watch as Rector, has witnessed DSPG being ranked among the top ten (10) most ethically responsible and less corrupt Polytechnics and indeed eventually emerging the second best ethically sound institution in the South-South geo-political zone of Nigeria, having scored 73% in the overall evaluation.

According to the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation Executive Director, the body, after conducting a series of secret investigations on DSPG, and its entire administrative hierarchy, scored the Rector 76% for “Public Ethical Standard Character”, adding that his (Rector’s) doggedness and credibility, has been recognized for inclusion in the center’s 100 persons Hall of Fame.

Furthermore, Prince Salih Musa Yakubu disclosed that his NGO’s due diligence check on the Polytechnic’s Principal officers, equally indicated they were ethically sound and thus merited their awards for contributing selflessly to the service of humanity and public service delivery amply demonstrated by working as a team with the Rector to maintain holistic and moral excellence in the running of DSPG's affairs.

The international anti-corruption Czar whose headquarters is based in Lokoja, Kogi State, spared no words to condemn the widespread downward slide of governance at all levels into corruption, charging those present at the event to strive to live above board and become agents of positive change.

On the benefits of the awards to DSPG, the Rector, and top management, the CFESVO Executive Director listed them to include, the induction of the Rector into the Hall of Fame of the body as an Integrity Icon of Nigeria (IION), as well as the training, each, of 100 staff and students of DSPG in addition to their being certified.

Responding on behalf of his institution and the management, the Rector, Bldr Professor Emmanuel Achuenu expressed gratitude to CFESVO for noting the modest contributions he had brought on board since his assumption of office.

The DSPG Rector, while thanking the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation for the honor and encouragement done him, the Polytechnic, and his Principal Officers, said the journey, since his assumption of office has been demanding but thanked God for His faithfulness in the transformation recorded thus far.

Bldr Professor Achuenu equally commended his management team and the entire workforce, both academic and non-academic staff, as well as students, for putting up concerted efforts towards engendering the institution’s progress.

He promised to sustain the tempo and make deliberate efforts toward attaining higher ratings and rankings in subsequent evaluations by the body.

Management Staff who were honored and issued certificates along with the Rector at the event attended by Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, and other Senior Staff of the Polytechnic, were the Deputy Rector, Engr S. Asibeluo, the Registrar, Mrs. Felicia Nweke, Bursar, Mr. Raymond Izukwe and the Librarian, Dr. Alex Obuh, among others.
