By Ajiri-Oghene Oreh
There are no doubts, the people of Isoko Federal Constituency at home and in diaspora, now see and take the ever selfless and charitable Engr, Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko’s House of Representatives aspiration as theirs.
The trust and confidence of the people stems from the awareness that, Engr. Ukodihko’s political aspiration was borne out of selfless services to the people, knowing his commitment to meeting the needs and actualizing the aspirations of the people.
Thus for them, when elected, Ukodihko, an ordained pastor will be their voice, and he will make good and enabling laws for growth and development, and bring home MORE dividends of democracy.
Ukodhiko’s recent intervention to the victims and communities affected by the 2022 flood in Isoko give credence to the foregoing, and that, he represents the legislative and democratic ideals which is all about the good of the people.
Ever responsive to people’s plights, needs and aspirations, Ukodhiko, many times, visited and commissioned people to visit victims of the flood and some flooded communities. He saw the level of destruction of properties and the displacement of the people occasioned by the flood.
The pains, the anguish and cries of the people Ukodhiko saw and identified with. He empathized, sympathized, consoled, motivated, and prayed for them.
Ukodhiko’s selfless trait in rendering services to others even at great personal cost and discomfort came to the fore. His mind went to work, ruminating how best to render assistance to and put smiles on the faces of his people.
What came out from the deep thinking and careful planning, was the “Isoko Flood Victims Assistance Scheme” powered By his UJA Foundation and friends, in collaboration with 05-Initiative of the wife of the Delta State Governor, Dame Edith Okowa.
The food items and relief materials worth millions of naira presented include, 10cows, 100 bags of 50kg Rice, 10 cattle, 25 cartons of ice fish, 1484 tubers of yam, 20 cartons of peak Milk sachets and 2000 bags of sachet water.
Others are 22 gallons of palm oil, 26 cartons of sardine, 250 mosquito nets, 150 cartons of noodles, 66 bags of Garri, 250 pieces of mattresses, 250 blankets, 42 bags of beans, 20 cartons of milk tea, 22 bags of salt and 600 loaves of bread.
Before the official presentation of the food items and reliefs materials to flood victims and communities, his wife, Mrs Ivie Ukodihko has earlier visited expectant and nursing mothers at the Internally Displaced Camps in Oleh in Isoko South and Ozoro in Isoko North .
Selfless like her husband, Engr. Jonathan, Mrs Ivie presented cash sums, pampers, baby wipes, toiletries, feeding bottles, soaps, creams , amongst other items to the nursing and expectant mothers at the IDPs camps in Isoko.
The noteworthy gesture by Mrs Ivie Ukodhiko clearly shows Engr Jonathan Ukodihko enjoys a strong spousal support and positive influence from his wife that will greatly impacts on the Isoko Federal Constituency and the people.
The reaching out by Mrs Ivie Ukodhiko to people in a bid to alleviate their plights is probably a novel phenomenon in the history of legislative representation in Isoko.
Clearly, Engr Jonathan Ukodhiko is aware if the extra-legislative responsibilities which the office of the member representing Isoko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives will impose on him when elected, and he is already living up to the great expectations of the people.
Before now, the philanthropist, Engr Ukodhiko has been a great supporter numerous worthy causes and has countlessly proviso financial assistance to religious bodies, social-cultural organizations, students’ and professional bodies both at home and in the diaspora amongst others.
In addition to the foregoing, he has through his “UJA Foundation” , successively ran massively pervasive socioeconomic empowerment programmes, geared toward alleviating poverty amongst the people in Isokonation.
The aforementioned no doubt, give good impression that, Pastor Jonathan Ukodhiko who is contesting for the Isoko Federal Constituency Seat in the House of Representatives will make a performing, listening, compassionate legislator, one who will also be a great advocate and representative of his people as far as lawmaking is concerned.
Pastor Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko has shown by example what he meant by “I put the interest of all of you, our good people into consideration above my personal interest”. Selflessness and lofty service to the people!
While commending Ukodhiko for his philanthropy and donations to flood victims, last week, the wife of the PDP Vice Presidential Candidate, Dame Edith Okowa urged us, the people of Isoko Federal Constituency, let us support Ukodhiko in his aspiration to bring more dividends of democracy.
For now, let’s join the jubilant people and sing joyfully for Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko has come to give us better legislative representation at the National Assembly and bring more dividends of democracy from Abuja!
