Welfare Scheme: Delta widows pray for Okowa, Oborevwori ~ Truth Reporters

 

There was an overflow of in Ughelli South and Uvwie local government Areas of Delta State as Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa, the incoming Vice President of Nigeria pays monthly stipend to old and new poor and vulnerable widows in the LGA's today.

The widows prayed for the emergence of Governor Okowa for Vice President of Nigeria come 2023, and incoming Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the incoming Vice President of Nigeria led Government has done well in all ramifications and has shown love to the needy using Social Investment Programme (SIP) to lift the poor and vulnerable widows from abject poverty through the office of Widows Welfare Scheme ably led by Dr Isioma Okonta , the #ODOGWU WIDOWS Alert.

The Scheme was initiated by Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa in 2018. And it is  widely known as "Widows Alert, Okowa's Phenomenon to provide succour to the poor and vulnerable widows selected from State Social register called Widows Data Base.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the payment of the monthly stipends, the ODOGWU WIDOWS Alert, Dr Isioma Okonta commended Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa for his benevolent heart towards widows in the State especially those in the State pay roll. Because widows have not been taken care of like this before now.

Speaking further, Dr Okonta Said the scheme was born out passion of His Excellency, Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and he is the only Governor in Nigeria  that is taking care of the widows in terms of monthly payment to improve their wellbeing.

Recently, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa approved additional 5,500 beneficiaries (Widows) to the existing ones thereby bringing the total number to 11,107 across the 270 Federal Wards of Delta State.

The idea was to cater for the poor and the vulnerable Widows in the State and it is purely non political, it cuts across political interests.
