31st Anniversary: Deltans must trust, love one another - Okonji ~ Truth Reporters
The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, has called on the people of the state to hold on to the things that have bound them together since the creation of the state.
He said that the modest achievements recorded these past years was due to trust and love demonstrated by the people.
The chairman, who was speaking on the 31st anniversary of the creation of Delta State, recalled that book makers would be surprised that Deltans were able to live in peace and unity, despite the initial reactions after the state’s creation in 1991.
He noted that various administrators that had ruled the state demonstrated patriotism and love by carrying all the ethnic groups along, particularly in siting infrastructures and other development initiatives.
In particular, he lauded the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who he described as a focused and detribalized leader, adding that the present administration had ensured that the various ethnic groups lived in peace and harmony.
According to him, the leadership of Governor Okowa had impacted on the lives of the people and the nooks and crannies of the state, thereby giving the people sense of belonging and hope to live together as one entity.
Ogbueshi Okonji, who congratulated the governor and Deltans, as they celebrate the 31st anniversary, expressed the hope that the state will witness more development and peace in the years ahead.
He urged Deltans to see their neighbours as partners in the drive for a viable and stronger state, stressing that for the state to move forward, trust and love must be their watchword.
