***  Says PDP Will Deliver Him In 2023 General Elections 

The Chairman of Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, Barrister Victor Ebonka has said that the popularity of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is overwhelming hence certain people launched campaigns of calumny against him in the build up to the 2023 Governorship election in the state. 

To this end,  he expressed confidence that PDP will deliver Rt Hon  Oborevwori overwhelmingly in the 2023 general elections. 

Speaking on the AIT programme, "Democracy Today", Barrister Ebonka, who is also the State Chairman of the Delta State Chapter of ALGON, posited that the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon  Oborevwori, who won the Wednesday, 25th May, 2022 Gubernatorial  Primaries held in the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba and dragged to Court by one of the Governorship aspirant, Chief David Edevbie, is very popular in the State and widely accepted by the people. 

According to him, the soaring popularity of the Speaker, Rt Hon  Oborevwori has been giving some persons sleepless nights and that he has not been spared of attacks here and there since he indicated interest for the position of Governor in the State. 

The lawyer, who is also the National Legal Adviser of ALGON, expressed optimism that the case against the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon  Oborevwori whom he described as a man of the people will be thrown out at the end of the day. 

While saying that allegations against the Speaker were outright falsehoods calculated to dent his hard earned reputation, the Ika North East Council Boss who also spoke in the same vein on ARISE TV on Monday, 25th July, 2022, called on his teeming supporters and political associates to continue to remain calm. He  predicted victory for Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori in court. 

In his words; " The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who won the most credible primary in the history of the state is  very popular. When  you present a Candidate that lives in the state, interacts with the commoners and knows the nooks and cranny of the state is different from when you present a "foreigner" that do not  associate with the people in the State. Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori's   popularity is overwhelming and that is why you are seeing these attacks on him, that is the reason for the outright falsehoods being dished out to the members of the public and that is why you are seeing campaigns of calumny here and there against him, but they will not succeed". 

"The  popularity of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly who is also the National Deputy Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures  of Nigeria is the cause of the attacks on him, rather than going to  WAEC to ascertain  the true position of his result  as  required by the Supreme Court, you are going to the newspapers, going to social media to tell lies about a man of peace and the choice of the people", Barrister Ebonka added. 

He also said that;  "In this case, communication from WAEC is lacking. No communication from WAEC  and nobody has come to say these certificates are mine and don't forget the given names Francis Oborevwori reflected in all these certificates. There is nothing new, we are politicians, we know ourselves. It is  just his popularity that is giving them sleepless nights.  I know their case will die on arrival in the Court of Appeal. The case of Chief David Edevbie against Rt Hon Oborevwori will not stand appeal and PDP as a united party will deliver Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori after the decision of the court".
