2023: Okowa eminently qualified as Atiku’s running mate - Ex Delta lawmaker ~ Truth Reporters

A former Member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Samuel Mariere says Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is eminently qualified for the position of Vice President of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Hon Mariere, an immediate past Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Chairman, Delta Political Monitor, said in a statement that PDP desires the person of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to win the forthcoming presidential election.

He said “the truth is that PDP need Okowa for the  Vice President position more than many can understand. Okowa has so much to bring to the table. He has total control of the political structure in Delta State and can influence what happens in some neighboring states in the South South, including  Edo and Bayelsa states more than any other contender”. He has committed so much to the service of God and is the one that can sway the Christian community away for PDP. He is highly respected by CAN, PFN and Anglican Communion, 

Stressing that Dr Okowa remains the best candidate for the running mate to Atiku Abubarkar, Hon Mariere, emphasized that the Delta Governor is the best fit for the job. 

“The job includes managing the Economy. Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa is a man of details, his capacity to dot the i’s and cross the t’s is second to non. That is exactly what the country needs”. 

Dismissing insinuations by distractors of betrayal and that his personal trait is been petty, the former Lawmaker said “there is no way a leader that is rational, firm and objective will not be accused of pride, bias and arrogance by those the decision did not Favour. His decision was always after wide consultation with critical stake holders, taking into consideration the good of a majority of the people of Delta state and the PDP in particular. The result of the PDP  primaries in Delta State show how acceptable and popular Okowa’s decision was”.

“Governor Okowa promised to return the Governorship of the state to Delta Central and he did just that. Delta central is not a property of anyone person. Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is both Paternally and maternally from Delta central. We of Delta central extraction ought to be grateful to him”, He stated.

Hon Mariere advised those blackmailing the Governor to desist from such act for the overall interest and development of Delta State and South South geopolitical zone.

“De marketing our most qualified for the position of the Vice President is not the best for our people. I stand with His Excellency, Dr I. A. Okowa for Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, Hon Mariere concluded.
