Jubilation as Isoko North workers present gifts, pour encomiums on Iteire ~ Truth Reporters

 

It was jubilation, singing, dancing and prayers on Thursday as the workers in Isoko North Local Government Area appreciated and paid glowing tributes to the Council Chairman, Hon Christian Othuke Iteire for his untiring efforts in ensuring an improved workers' welfare and comfortable working environment and conditions.

The workers, under the body of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Isoko North Chapter, poured encomiums on the Isoko-North Council Chairman on September 2, 2021 when they paid him a courtesy visit at the Exco Chambers in the Council Secretariat in Ozoro.

In their speeches, the workers through the Head of Personnel Management Barrister Henry Obukeowho, a former State Public Relation Officer, NULGE, Comrade Ralph Femi Eza, former Isoko North Branch chairmen, NULGE, Comrade Okeh Churchill Ejiro and Barrister E.C. Asakpoku and the Head of Environment Department, Mrs Edith Oko lauded and commended the Council Chairman for his benevolence and unflinching commitment to the welfare of the workers in the Local Government Area.

They described him as a humane, listening and accommodating Council Chairman who is sensitive and conscious of workers' welfare, and his efforts have not only motivated but has given workers reasons to rejoice.

Assuring the Council Chairman of the continuously unflinching support of the workers in the implementation of the policies and programmes of the Isoko North Local Government administration, the chairman, Isoko North chapter of NULGE, Comrade Michael Ofoh commended Hon Iteire for demonstrating his interest in workers' welfare by addressing the immediate challenges and needs of the workers upon assumption of office as Chairman.

In his words, "We have been here for few months together as Chairman and as workers/staff of the Local Government Area. And I can attest to the kind of person you are as a father. In all respect, you have been able to epitomize a loving and a caring father to us workers".

Lauding the Council Chairman for reforming and reinvigorating the Education, Health, Agriculture sectors, and seeing to regular sanitation exercises aimed at making the local government area cleaner and healthier to live and thrive, Comrade Ofoh appealed for more supports especially in the areas of the completion of the staff' canteen building that has been abandoned for years, the renovation of office buildings, sendforth ceremony/packages for retiring and retired staff.

Responding, the Chairman, Isoko North Local Government Council who was visibly elated said, he was touched, flattered, and encouraged by the visit, the presentations of gifts and kind words freely lavished on him by the Workers, and assured of his determination of leaving a legacy behind for the people of Isoko North.

According to him, "I was voted to serve and I have come to serve the people of Isoko North Local Government Area".

Reiterating his assurance of regular payment of the monthly workers' Welfare fund for social engagements, Iteire revealed plans of his administration to provide more working tools and equipments, and embarking on projects within the Council Secretariat that would see to a secured and comfortable working environment for workers.

The Isoko North Council boss charged Heads of Departments to show commitment and dedication to their duties in order for staff under them to emulate them for a better and efficient service delivery to the people of the Local Government Area

Highpoints of the visit were presentations of gifts by the Head of Personnel Management, Barrister Obukeowho and the Treasurer to the Local Government Council, Queen Ofejiro Ogbogbo on behalf of the workers to the Council Chairman, Hon Christian Iteire.

Present during the visit of the local government employees were the Secretary to the Local Government Council, Hon David Ejoor Igbuduma, the supervisor for Environment Hon. Alebe Joshua Onos, the supervisor for Agriculture and Community Development, Hon Mark Ekakitie, the Special Adviser to Chairman, Hon. Imogu Joseph the Administrative Assistant to the Chairman, Mr Eboh Onome, and the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Mr Ajiri-Oghene Oreh.
