Matthias Eto: We've lost a great patriot - Iteire ~ Truth Reporters

The Chairman, Isoko North Local Government Council, Hon Christian Othuke Iteire has expressed sadness over the death of Chief Mathias Eto, former Chairman of the defunct Isoko Local Government Council, who died on Saturday, April 24, describing him as an Isoko patriot and bridge-building politician.

Hon. Iteire in a condolence message to the family and people of Isoko South Local Government Area, on Sunday, said that Chief Eto was a public functionary who passionately served Isoko ethnic nationality, Delta State and the nation Nigeria with uncommon courage and dedication, and his contributions to peace, order and good governance are enormous.

In his words, "Chief M.C.O. Eto was a true statesman, whose unblemished record of public service bespoke a rich profile that reflected his humongous contributions to Isoko, nay, Delta's evolution. From being a local government council Chairman in 1988, becoming a commissioner representing Delta State on the Governing Board of the Public Complaints Commission, and Political Adviser to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Eto plunged himself into the task of nation building and he was dedicated to national service".

"He was an ideal personality. Highly principled, disciplined, upright, compassionate, incorruptible, and outspoken, Eto's presence was inestimable. His passing will be sorely missed by all and sundry who encountered him and ardently followed his antecedents"

The Isoko North Council Boss prayed to Almighty God to grant repose the soul of the departed Isoko leader, Chief Matthias Eto.
