Funkekeme wades in as Ijaw youths suspend planned protest ~ Truth Reporters
The Ijaw political pressure group, Delta Ijaw Youth Movement on Sunday suspended its planned protest slated to hold in Asaba Delta State Nov. 10th and 11th.
The suspension of the planned protest was as a result of timely mediation by the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon who addressed the angry Ijaw youths, putting to rest the issues of neglect by the Delta State Government.
At the meeting between the group leaders, Comrade Okporu Augustine, Birinumughan Jesse A.k.a general 90 and Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, the group resolved to sheathe their sword and expressed readiness to work with Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to move the state to an enviable height.
The group also appealed to Governor Okowa to critically look into their concerns by ensuring that the issues of marginalization are addressed.
However, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon who calmed the nerves of the angry youths assured that Delta Ijaw youths are partners in progress with the governor and Governor Okowa’s administration will continue to partner with youths as all in the state will benefit from Okowa’s all-inclusive government.
They commended Hon Funkekeme Solomon for giving them needed attention and addressing their concerns, adding that the meeting has yielded the desired results and the planned protest has been called off.
