NIPR Inducts Delta Commissioner, Aniagwu, 144 Others ~ Truth Reporters

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations has read the riot act to 145 newly inducted members, asking them to promote the art and science of public relations or risk being expelled.

The inductees included Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, eight Public Relations Officers in Delta state, the PRO, Ministry of Information, Mr. Ugbaja Samuel, and a Hon. Commissioner for Special Duties from Akwa-Ibom state.

While 24 inductees are from Abuja and Delta respectively, seven from Akwa-Ibom, five from Rivers, three from Edo, one from Ondo, two from Abia, Lagos recorded the highest number with 42 inductees.

The institute said the code of professional conduct as decreed in No. 16  of 1990 and other bye-laws in No. 1 of 1992 that stipulated high standard of practice and proficiency remained sacrosanct,

President and chairman of the council, Mallam Mukhtar Z. Sirajo, who inducted them in Asaba maintained that the inductees were to operate in every sphere of life, including Commerce and Industry, Federal, state, Local Governments, community, international, social affairs, charities, public interest and healthcare establishments.

He said: “The breach of the code will earn serious sanctions, suspension or expulsion. They are to conduct research, collect and disseminate information on all aspects of life.”

Elated Aniagwu said he would justify the confidence reposed in him by promoting the ideals of the institute for community development, urban renewal and national interest.
