Benson Uwheru, Moses Taiga Bag Honorary Degrees as MCIU Holds 1st Convocation ~ Truth Reporters



The Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU) Agbarha-Otor has conferred the prestigious honorary doctorate degree to two eminent personalities at its 1st convocation ceremony.



The awardees are Mr Benson Uwheru, a Partner at Ernst & Young was conferred with the Honorary Doctorate degree in Financial Management while Olorogun Moses Taiga, a business tycoon and President General of the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU was conferred with the Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration.


The well attended Convocation ceremony held on Thursday at the University premises at Agbarha-Otor in Ughelli North Local Government of Delta State.

The University also conferred first degrees 20 students known as the "Alpha Set" with 4 first class, 12 second class upper, and 4 second class lower degrees.

Speaking on the recognition, Uwheru who dedicated the award to the youths, urged the youths to change their attitude if they intend to change their world and urged stakeholders to invest more in youth development and empowerment.

”Today’s youths need deliverance and particularly encouragement to motivate them to greatness.

He urged students to change their attitude if they intend to change their world and pledged to continually mentor students from the university to enable them fit in well after graduation.

On his part, Taiga dedicated the award to the Urhobo Progress Union worldwide and promised to support the University to fulfil it's potential.

In her address, the Pro-Chancellor and Co-founder of the University Dr Mrs Cecilia Ibru, congratulated the awardees and advised them to see their award as a motivation to do more for the society.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State was representing by the Commissioner for Higher Education Professor Patrick Muoboghare.
