Adowei welcomes Osinbajo to Ogulagha, says he is a man of peace ~ Truth Reporters
...Praises Governor Okowa for the completion of 19km link road
...Urges FG to disregard rumours about him
Chairman of the Niger Delta Egbesu Generals, self styled Gen. Freedom Adowei, former leader Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta, MEND has welcomed Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President Federal Republic of Nigeria to The Oil rich Ogulagha Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
Gen. Adowei made the call earlier today in Warri via a press statement issued to newsmen by his media aide, Barr. Frank Ekpemupolo, a copy of which was made available to Truth Reporters.
The Ex-agitor had maintained that he is a propeller of peace, stressing that the vice president's visit to Ogulagha Kingdom is a welcome development, noting that the peace loving Ogulagha people will leave no stone unturned to ensure the success of the event.
It would be recalled that the vice president would be visiting Sokebolou to commission a 19Km road project completed by the Governor Okowa's led administration in Delta State.
However, the 19Km road links Sokebolou, Obotobo I, Obotobo II and Yokri communities in Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
Nevertheless, the former MEND leader had heaped praises on His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State for remembering Ogulagha Kingdom with such a laudable project, noting that the Governor is leaving behind a legacy that will stand the test of time.
Adowei had also lampooned the multi national oil companies operating in the area for allegedly failing to leave up to the expectations of the people, emphasising that the Okowa led administration had done what the oil companies operating in the area can't do.
Meanwhile, Adowei had urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to disregard security reports about him, stressing that such rumours were orchestrated by those that never meant well for the development of Niger Delta. He emphasised that he would not have been honoured with a peace ambassador title in Ogulagha Kingdom if he wasn't law abiding.
The statement read in part:"Gen. Adowei the peace ambassador of sokebolou community laud the propose visit of the Vice President of Nigeria, prof., Yemi Osinbajor to commission an outlook changing community road project which was completed some months ago. The Ambassador who has always toe the line of peace called on sons and daughters of Sokebolou community and Ogulagha kingdom at large to give the needed support in receiving the Vice President and see to the success of the proposed visit.
"It is important to reiterate in the part of external relations that Sokebolou community stands firmly for peace, development and cooperation. Our part of sticking to the path of peace has made this laudable project possible, hence, we will continue to sue for peace for more developmental projects.
"Am not an enemy but a peace propeller. We feel so perturbed over the name Gen. Adowei splashed across TV screens, Tweeter feeds, newspaper pages, internet news and spewed out of the mouths of haters painting him bad before the Nigerian government which also led to the presidential advance team going about asking for his whereabouts with a word of threat that he should run far.
"The Nigerian government should ignore and disregard such image killing information. How can I see a development oriented government as enemy. Honestly speaking the government of the day has done more good to the people of Ogulagha clan in terms of development than the so called oil companies that surround the area.
"To say otherwise, the said stories about me is blatant falsehood and an attempt to paint me as an enemy of the government in a very dangerous time like this when we work hard to regain the trust of the government is unpatriotic.
The security of the water way in respect of the proposed visit is not negotiable, the government can count on me. The good people of Sokebolou community is always ready to receive His excellency, for we are most honoured to receive the number two citizen of the country in our law abiding community”
