PDP Chairman, Ogorugba honours mum in memorial service ~ Truth Reporters
The quiet community of Otor-Igho in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State was agog on Sunday when the Chairman of Isoko North Peoples Democratic Party PDP gathered family members, friends and political associates to a thanksgiving service in honour of his late mother, Mrs Victoria Esekumuemu Ogorugba who was laid to rest a year ago.
The first year remembrance service which held at St. Peter's Anglican Church Otor-Igho was well attended by political bigwigs from Isoko and beyond among where Majority Leader Delta State House of Assembly Hon Tim Owhefere, Chairman Isoko North Local Government Council Hon Emmanuel Egbabor, Commissioner Public Complaints Commission Delta State Office Hon Joseph Otheremu, President General of Isoko Development Union IDU High Chief Iduh Amadhe, Chairman Delta South PDP Chief Emman Amgbaduba, Chairman Warri North PDP Hon. Dr. Isaac Wilikie, His Udu LGA counterpart Prince Sam Uwhujowowo, Isoko South PDP Chairman Hon. Raphael Odorewu.
Others include, Hon. Chief Apar Itesah, Hon. Mike Ogwah, Mr. Sam Idise, Dr Mrs Evelyn Aluta, Bishop Ben Eghaire, Sir Robert Ighosewe, Engr Peter Odunwa, Mr. Peter Onaibre, Arc. James Akporero, Secretary to the Isoko North Local Government Council Mr. Kome Ozue, Hon.Ovie Oghoore, Bldr. Guest minister at the service, Ven. Robert Oziwele in his sermon titled "Don't be a fool!" said a foolish man is that person who is morally and spiritually bankrupt and has no place for God, adding that fools covet that which is meant for the poor without regards to God.
Quoting from Psalms 14:1 and Luke 12:13-2, Ven. Oziwele urged the congregation to be a channel to giving than becoming a reservoir storing up treasures to themselves without giving to others, stressing that fools cannot be entrusted with any responsibility.
Prince Godwin Ogorugba in his vote of thanks appreciated God for keeping him and his siblings in the last one year, adding that God has been good to the family depsite the lose of their matriarch a year ago. "Today, this memorial service marks the transition from the grief of loss to the celebration of a life triumphantly well lived by my beloved mother," he said, adding "my mother was a pillar of inspiration and support and was always giving us advice and guidance," he added.
The Ogorugbas later treated guests to a sumptuous reception at his palatial country home with ace Isoko gospel musician Evang. Amos Ighaka entertaining guests to melodious tunes.
